In the light of the recent Planning Application at Home Farm being approved, the Parish Council are reconsidering developing a Neighbourhood Plan for the Parish of Little Munden.
Neighbourhood Plans can help communities play a greater role in shaping the future of their area. It would also aim to bring together residents, businesses, local groups, landowners and developers to share ideas and build consensus about what needs to be done in the area. It can also help create lasting partnerships both within and outside the communities with public service providers and local businesses.
However, it is essential to have the support of the community to produce a document that accurately reflects their priorities and aspirations in planning matters and would ultimately get their support at a referendum.
Therefore, the wider community must be informed of the Parish Council’s intentions and be given the chance to get involved from the beginning. This would involve initially holding a public meeting to recruit community volunteers to join a steering group. The Parish Council would also have to involve local groups and businesses to notify them of their intentions and to identify the level of interest these groups may have in taking part in the Neighbourhood Plan.
The Steering Group would need to consist of a minimum of seven people who would, between them have the relevant skills to complete the plan within an 18 to 24 month framework.
If you are interested in being involved in this process, please register your initial interest with the Clerk, details below. If the Parish Council considers that there is enough interest to proceed then a public meeting will be held in due course with the intention of forming a Steering Group and to also discuss funding (grants are available).
